Why I do what I do
Why I do what I do
I chose this career because I am a widow. I have experienced firsthand the value of a good financial plan that starts with the foundation of life insurance. Had my husband listened to me when I said we couldn't afford life insurance, I would have lost my home within two months after he unexpectedly died at the age of 43.
I serve members in…
many states around the U.S. I am licensed in six states, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Colorado and Nevada.
I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…
life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.
I enjoy working with…
all individuals. From young adults who need to establish a financial plan, to the elderly who need a trustworthy agent who will not take advantage of them. I bring over 50 years of life experience to help educate my members in all facets of finance. It is my priority to help my members and their families be prepared for life and the unexpected.
I attended…
Montgomery College as an adult and received an associate degree. I also attended the university of hard knocks and learned some of the most important lessons in life through trial and error.
I am very proud of…
having served the members of Modern Woodmen for over 14 years. I am also honored to have been awarded the Gold Award and Quality Service Award from the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors (NAFIC).
Before Modern Woodmen, I…
worked within the Bell System for 11 years. I surrendered my position to raise children, however, in the 14th year of stay-at-home motherhood, I was unexpectedly widowed in a nine-hour time frame. Forced back into the workforce after the insurance money ran out, I worked full-time as an accounts receivable rep before being let go in the economic downturn of 2008. Fortunately, my prayers for employment were answered and Modern Woodmen found me!
I chose Modern Woodmen because…
it fell in my lap a week after I started looking for a job, and having just lived the Modern Woodmen story, I knew it was a perfect fit. With Modern Woodmen I found a family, and I've stayed with them because it's the most well-run organization I have ever dealt with, both personally and professionally. Modern Woodmen's motto is, "We exist for our members." I have come to learn over the past 14 years the motto is a true story!
The best part of my career is…
helping people feel they have all their bases covered. Before the death of my husband, we had nothing in order, and it took me forever to get it all straight after his passing. The paperwork nightmare was only trumped by the huge financial loss I incurred because I was uneducated about his investments. It became my priority to help educate folks, especially women, in all things financial, and to put plans in place for their financial well-being, both now and in the future. THAT is why I do what I do.
A favorite moment in my career was when…
within two weeks of each other, three of my elderly client couples called to take me to lunch to thank me for the help I had given them and the thousands of dollars I had saved them.
Also…
after 14 years of service with Modern Woodmen, I can happily say I still very much enjoy what I do. I have helped hundreds of people get control of their finances and helped countless folks rest easy now that their affairs are in order. That's huge for me, and it makes me smile knowing my efforts have affected so many.
