Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I’m passionate about helping my members determine their financial goals. We work together to create a plan based on their unique needs.

I serve members in…

the Quad Cities and surrounding areas.

I enjoy working with…

families, those approaching retirement, educators and small-business owners.

I attended…

the University of Iowa, where I earned a bachelor's in marketing with a minor in communications and an emphasis in finance.

I am very proud of…

my family. I also obtained my FIC designation, and earned Rookie of the Year and President's Cabinet honors in 2019.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was a store manager at Walgreens in Davenport, Iowa, for close to 25 years.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in the organization -- not only for how it supports members to help them reach their financial goals, but also for the way it supports my community and allows me to give back.

The best part of my career is…

helping my members. Whether it's planning for their retirement or protecting their families with life insurance, I feel good knowing I helped make a positive impact on their lives. I also really enjoy building relationships with nonprofit organizations in the Quad Cities and helping them through Modern Woodmen's fraternal aspect.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

our local chapter and I helped Street Friends of the Quad Cities raise enough money to buy a transit bus. The bus is used to help homeless people throughout the Quad Cities.

Also…

Providing people with peace of mind that if the unthinkable happens, I'm there to walk them through the process and ensure their family will be taken care of.

“The best part of my career is helping my members. Whether it's planning for their retirement or protecting their families with life insurance, I feel good knowing I helped make a positive impact on their lives. I also really enjoy building relationships with non-profit businesses in the Quad Cities and leveraging our fraternal aspect to help them.”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wonderful wife, Mandy, and our daughter, Paige, and son, Drew.

In my free time, you can find me…

coaching my son's Southeast Little League baseball team or supporting my daughter's dance team, Expressions of the Quad Cities.

I’m passionate about…

helping people out, both personally and professionally. I also love the Iowa Hawkeyes.

My greatest blessing is…

my wife and children, and my members. Thank you!

My personal motto is…

always remember the Golden Rule! Treat others how you would like to be treated.

My hidden talent is…

being able to recite the entire movie, "Tommy Boy."

Community impact

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

for 37 of my 49 years.

What I like best about my community is…

the amazing people. It's home. It always has been and always will be! No one is a stranger. People genuinely care for one another and give back to make this community great.

I’m a member of…

our local Chamber of Commerce.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

helping clean up Devils Glen Park with my son and his classmates, volunteering at the Southeast Little League concession stand with my daughter and her best friend, and handing out clothing to homeless people at King's Harvest with my wife.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

volunteering alongside other Modern Woodmen members.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when I connected with someone who was using New Kingdom Trail Riders (NKTR). NKTR is an equestrian therapy facility located in Sherrard, Illinois, for people with special needs. I've enjoyed building a relationship with the people at NKTR through our fraternal programs.

Also…

I've enjoyed supporting Junior Achievement with their bowl-a-thon event.
