“Dad, LOOK it’s Rapunzel!” “No sweetheart, you’re watching Frozen.” This conversation came out of nowhere a morning last week. While my wife and I were busy fixing breakfast, making coffee, going through the morning checklist for the summer months, my four-year old start cheering excitedly in the living room soon after she started watching one of her favorite movies. My first response? I didn’t believe her. Horrible, right? I figured she was imagining things and to be fair, she likes to tell stories. She also loves Rapunzel. We’ve watched Disney’s “Tangled” at least 2-3 times a week for probably the last four months or so. She. Loves. Rapunzel. ”No, Dad, I saw Rapunzel! She was going in Elsa’s palace. The doors are open. Anna opened the doors to the castle. She was going in!” Additionally, between both kids, we probably have seen Frozen at least 500+ times over the last five years. At least. Probably the most watch movie in our house. Period. Never have I seen Rapunzel in the movie. Not once. So naturally, I became curious because she continued to plead for me to believe her. To see what she saw. So, I froze Frozen… and began to rewind it. Scene by scene. “Stop. Stop! Dad, STOP! Right there. Look. It’s Rapunzel with her brown hair. Finn cut it, remember? And it turned brown. There she is! It’s Rapunzel!” There she was. No denying it. I stood there and smiled. How many times had I seen that movie and not one time did I ever see the princess from Tangled walk into Anna and Elsa’s castle. Not once. I stood there and smiled as I saw a four-year old girl - not gloating or getting in an “I told you so” - but instead she was standing there in awe at one of her favorite princesses walking into the castle existing with two of her other favorite princesses… and that she had spotted her. Almost like it was her special surprise… she spotted a long-lost friend in the crowd. She was beaming. I was humbled and I couldn’t stop smiling. “You’re right sweetheart. There she is - there’s Rapunzel just like you said. Great eye.” There are a few lessons there. May you find them. Be Curious. Be Confident. Be Competitive. Every public win has private responsibility attached to it. People see the ribbon cuttings. The milestones. The growth. What they don’t always see is the accountability behind it. The preparation. The pressure. The standard you hold yourself to when others are counting on you. Real leadership isn’t built in spotlight moments. It’s built in the quiet decisions made long before anyone notices the result. That’s the responsibility of representing something bigger than yourself. And that’s the standard. Be Curious. Behind the scenes of being a financial professional… Most people see the meetings. The events. The presentations. The polished side of the profession. What they don’t see are the hours behind it all. The studying. The strategy sessions. The tough conversations. The constant refining of our craft. They don’t see the time spent preparing for one client conversation… or the pressure of making sure families receive guidance that’s thoughtful, ethical, and personal. And honestly? One of the best parts of this profession is that we don’t do it alone. Behind every advisor is a team pushing each other to grow, think deeper, sharpen our skills, and raise the standard together. A lot happens behind the scenes. The learning. The collaboration. The accountability. The camaraderie. That’s what makes the visible moments possible. And that’s what makes this work so meaningful. Be Kind. #UnapologeticallyFraternal Much Love & Cheers. #ThisIsMWA #FinancialProfessional #BehindTheScenes #LeadershipDevelopment #GrowthMindset #RaiseTheStandard
