Over the past several weeks, I've had the opportunity to introduce you to the individuals who make up our team—where they've come from, who they serve, what matters to them, and the unique qualities they bring to the work we do. And yes... I even gave them Marvel alter egos. I then decided to paste all 18 social media posts I created into ChatGPT with the following prompt: “After reading the introductions and profiles of each member from my team and knowing everything about our Division - create a caricature-like team photo; one you might find on the front page of a comic book. Additionally, give me a superhero character based upon everything you know about me.” The caricatures are fun. The superpowers imaginary. But the people—and the qualities behind them—are very real. They are a collection of builders and protectors. Thinkers and doers. Dreamers and competitors. Advocates, encouragers, strategists, connectors, mentors, and friends. Some are just beginning their careers. Others have spent years building practices and serving their communities. They have different personalities. Different strengths. Different experiences. Different ambitions. I've never believed the goal was to build a team of people who all look, think, work, or lead the same way. The goal has always been and will continue to be to bring good people - folks of great character - together, help them discover what they do exceptionally well, and create an environment where those individual strengths can become something greater together. That's what I see when I look at this graphic. Not superheroes… People. People who care about the individuals, families, and business owners who place their trust in them. People who believe their work should extend beyond the walls of an office and into the communities they call home. People who challenge one another, support one another, learn from one another, and continue becoming better versions of themselves. Different Strengths. More Than a Team. I'm incredibly proud of this group—not simply because of what they're accomplishing, but because of who they are and who they're continuing to become. ...And I'm grateful I get to be part of the adventure. Your Financial Representative... Meet Jacob Bechert. Earnest. Sincere. Devoted. Jacob reminds me of one of Marvel's most quietly compelling characters: Nightcrawler. Like Kurt Wagner, Jake is guided by something deeper than ambition. He's kind, loyal, and quietly grounded in his faith. He may not always be the loudest voice in the room, but he cares deeply about the people around him and believes how we serve others matters just as much as what we accomplish. Jacob earned degrees in both finance and economics before beginning his career in insurance. Today, he specializes in serving young families—helping people who are often just beginning to build their lives together create a stronger financial foundation for what comes next. "I enjoy working with Modern Woodmen because I can make an impact on the communities and families that have given so much to me over the years." That desire to give back says quite a bit about Jacob. Family remains an important part of his life. He enjoys spending time with his parents and brother, whether they're traveling together or simply relaxing at home. Outside of work, you'll often find him fishing, hunting, or golfing. Ask Jacob what his superpower is, though, and his answer is simple: His faith. It's the foundation that shapes the way he approaches his relationships, his work, and the people he's been entrusted to serve. Your Financial Representative... Meet Ethan Ross. Grounded. Persistent. Committed. His Marvel alter ego? Hawkeye. Like Clint Barton, Ethan is observant, patient, and remarkably focused when something matters. He doesn't need to be the loudest person in the room to make an impact. He pays attention, understands what people are fighting for, and remains grounded when others need someone they can count on. Before joining Modern Woodmen of America, Ethan spent ten years in agricultural operations before working in custom robotics and manufacturing. Growing up in a farming community, however, gave him an appreciation for something bigger than simply building a business—building something worth passing on. Today, Ethan has a particular passion for helping farmers and families build financial security while preparing the family business for the next generation. "It is very fulfilling to work with Modern Woodmen because of the work that we do as a fraternal to improve our communities and the lives of the people within those communities." Ethan serves Indiana members from Greenwood, Franklin, and his hometown of Delphi. Outside of work, he's a passionate runner and hunter who loves traveling and spending time with his wife, Stefany, family, friends, and their two dogs, Muttley and Mila. Ask Ethan about his greatest accomplishment, though, and he won't point to his career. It's the life he and Stefany have built together. His self-described superpower is empathy—the ability to step outside himself, see the world through someone else's eyes, and better understand those around him. "Our team is a collective of people that prioritizes the needs of our clients and improving our communities above all else. I think that is very rare and I am proud to be a part of that mission."
