"I was in my early years of leadership and was training one of our recent college graduates. We met with a middle age family that needed some basic financial planning. The mother of the family was a schoolteacher and had recently earned her doctorate in teaching. Her education was something the whole family was proud of. The meeting resulted in the family starting a life insurance plan and some other retirement and investment plans. Two years later the mother died of a sudden heart attack. When meeting with the father to plan, the father told us; in tears, that the oldest child decided to go into the teaching profession, following their mothers’ footsteps.
