Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I’m passionate about empowering my members to achieve their financial goals.

I serve members in…

Arkansas.

I enjoy working with…

Everyone. I especially helping school administrators, teachers, coaches and school counselors.

I attended…

Arkansas Tech University.

I am very proud of…

my journey in serving others -- from being an educator to serving in ministry to nonprofit work. Now, I empower members to make decisions to build a legacy and a better financial future.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked in the education and non-profit worlds in several roles – as a teacher, coach, and as a director for The Boys and Girls Club of Faulkner County.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in the organization and how it gives me the ability to support and empower people who need most – both through our financial tools as well as our fraternal programs.

The best part of my career is…

seeing the impact Modern Woodmen makes in members’ lives.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

my chapter helped install a memorial for a fallen local hero. We provided materials and labor to landscape and construct a flagpole in this public servant’s honor.

“There is a destiny which makes us brothers; none goes his way alone. All that we send into the lives of others comes back into our own. - Edwin Markham”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wife, Elishia; son, Finn Whitney; and daughter, Sloan River.

In my free time, you can find me…

spending time with my family, training my dog (a cane corso) or grilling barbeque.

I’m passionate about…

my family, entertaining friends, traveling and barbeque.

My greatest blessing is…

my kids. They're a huge blessing. We’re so grateful!

My personal motto is…

Be diligent in the little things and you'll be prepared for greatness.

My hidden talent is…

I'm an amateur barbeque enthusiast. I can also stack five golf balls!

Community impact

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

over 20 years.

What I like best about my community is…

how beautiful the area is and how kind my neighbors are.

I’m a member of…

the Boys and Girls Club of Faulkner County and Second Baptist Church. I also volunteer with WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students), serving as a positive male role model to students at Wooster Elementary.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

serving as a with WATCH D.O.G.S. dad, reading in classrooms, and providing love and support to students in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

installing a memorial flagpole and landscaping at a local school to honor a public servant who passed away.

Little Dribblers donation

My chapter provided equipment for the Little Dribblers basketball team at Wooster Elementary. Playing on the team empowers students, like my son, to succeed. Our fraternal outreach also supported the school's physical education teacher to focus on enriching kids’ learning.

Did you know? Over the years Modern Woodmen has helped communities across the country heal. In 1909, we opened a tuberculosis sanatorium in Colorado, that served more than 12,000 members afflicted with the illness. During the polio epidemic in the 1940s and 50s, we created a polio benefit to help member families affected with the disease.
