Modern Woodmen members present check to a child with a rare form of brain cancer
Modern Woodmen members presented $2,000 to Melanie Putnam to represent the group’s fundraising match for River Putnam. River is an 11-year-old boy who can't attend school this year because he was diagnosed with a very rare form of brain cancer, called germinoma. They found out in July 2019, and he has already undergone two brain surgeries, four rounds of chemo, multiple scans, infections and hospital stays. The money raised will help his family with medical expenses. Modern Woodmen's Matching Fund Program gives Modern Woodmen members the chance to support a community cause, organization or individual in need through fundraisers. Members also can take part in social and educational activities and volunteer projects that meet local needs.
