Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to make a living by helping others and their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding.

I serve members in…

Kentucky and Tennessee.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance and annuities.

I enjoy working with…

my chapters and youth service clubs.

I attended…

Christ the King Catholic Church.

I am very proud of…

the many years I have been blessed to work with Modern Woodmen.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

managed a low-income apartment complex. I enjoy helping others.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

fraternalism and the good reputation that Modern Woodmen has held in my community since the early 1900s.

The best part of my career is…

all the friends I have acquired since 1988.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I paid my first death claim and realized the impact I can make on a family.

Also…

I've been with Modern Woodmen more than half of my life and plan to remain on until retirement.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my husband, Johnny Gearlds; my daughter, Kim Arnett, her husband, Shannon, and their children, Blakely and Austin; my son, Chris Ford, his wife, Terri Beth, and their son, Luke; my son, Sean Ford, his wife, Casey, and their children, Westin and Kenleigh Marie; and my stepson and his new wife, Ryan and Lindsey Gearlds.

In my free time, you can find me…

relaxing at the lake or spending time with my family. I also enjoy being with my three horses and five grandchildren.

I’m passionate about…

the lake and horses and family.

My greatest blessing is…

my children and my faith.

My personal motto is…

treat people as you wish to be treated.

My hidden talent is…

photography. I have been my church photographer for over 20 years.

Also…

I love to travel to places I have never been. My bucket list is almost completed.

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

since 1973. I was an Army brat and have lived in several different places.

What I like best about my community is…

knowing everyone by name.

I’m a member of…

Christ the King Catholic Church.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

with my Modern Woodmen chapter.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when we purchased clothing for children in need and watching the expressions on their faces when they received the packages.
