🚨 California Business Owners: Important Update You Can’t Ignore If you own a business in California and have even ONE W‑2 employee (yes — including yourself), the state now requires you to have a retirement plan in place. If you don’t, you’re considered non‑compliant and could face penalties: $250 per employee after the first notice + $500 per employee after the final notice + $500 per employee every year you remain non‑compliant These penalties stack quickly, especially for small businesses. And here’s the part many people miss: 👉 Even if you already have a retirement plan, you MUST file for an exemption with CalSavers. If you don’t, the state still treats you as non‑compliant.
