Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am in this business to help people. I have been blessed with a servant's heart and have discovered on my life's journey that I am most fulfilled when I am helping others. I am very fortunate to work for a wonderful organization where my success is in direct proportion to the amount of good I do for others.

I serve members in…

the states of Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

people in every stage of life. There are many paths to financial security, and I truly enjoy the challenge of helping individuals and business owners discover, develop and implement the plan that is right for them.

I attended…

Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Va., where I majored in philosophy and minored in Latin and classical studies.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked for a prominent Oklahoma businessman for twenty-two years in many different capacities. I managed several different retail businesses for him and served as the legal representative for his corporations. I also worked at MONY Financial Services for eight years.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

of the quality of the products and services it has to offer, the integrity of the leadership and, of course, for the fraternal difference. I love working for an organization whose purpose is to improve the lives of its members and community.

The best part of my career is…

knowing I can truly make a difference in someone else's life.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my husband, Russell, my three children, Landon, Ashley and Jeff, two wonderful stepsons, Rusty and Jeremy, one son-in-law, Scott, and two stepdaughters-in-law, Julie and Brandy. Last, but certainly not least, I have precious grandchildren, Aden, Ethan, Ava, Kinsley, Calton and Violet, and a little boy on the way who will be named Tucker.

In my free time, you can find me…

playing joyfully with those grandchildren. I also enjoy gardening, working with my husband in the yard, painting furniture or decorating for my family or my church.

My greatest blessing is…

my family, my dear personal friends and my church family. Relationships are the most important thing in life -- no one on their death bed has ever said "I wish I had spent more time with my business."

My hidden talent is…

my cooking. My husband would say this is a very hidden talent since I don't engage in this activity as often as he would like. However, when I do, my children take my pies to their parties at their place of employment and give them to their friends at Christmas. My family also thinks I make the best lasagna in the world!

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

in Nichols Hills, western Oklahoma City and Edmond all my life.

What I like best about my community is…

on numerous occasions the people of Oklahoma have shown the country what the "Oklahoma Standard" is. After the Oklahoma City bombing, the whole nation watched how the people of Oklahoma City took care of each other. We have shown after several devastating tornadoes what the people of our community believe in -- we truly do love our neighbors.

I’m a member of…

Village Christian Church, where I serve as an elder, a member of the official board and the worship chairman. I also belong to several other organizations, professional and honorary.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

the free educational programs that are provided to local schools and other organizations. The schools in Oklahoma very much appreciate these. I was so surprised to find my mailbox stuffed with hundreds of handmade thank-you notes from every student at Nichols Hills Elementary. I couldn't believe the teachers actually took the time to have each child make a note for me. I keep these in a special basket in my office and have reread them many times.
