Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

My son, Barrett, passed away after two years of fighting a brain tumor. He was 3 ½ years old. In that time, I saw first-hand how much help people need with financial planning. I became a financial representative to educate and ensure families are as prepared as they can be for the unexpected.

I serve members in…

Keystone Heights, Florida! But I am happy to work with anyone in our great country.

I enjoy working with…

new families and small businesses.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was a commercial saturation diver. I spent my 20s diving around the world for energy companies.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

my family trusted Modern Woodmen for years before I even knew the name. With the organization’s focus on family and community as a fraternal benefit society, I knew it was exactly where I’d fit in.

The best part of my career is…

helping my members. Bringing peace of mind to people that felt lost is a true gift.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I sat down with a local family that never thought they could afford their retirement dreams. I showed them that not only could we achieve that vision, but we could also leave a legacy for their children.

My life outside of work

In my free time, you can find me…

scuba diving, fishing or boating with friends.

I’m passionate about…

supporting childhood cancer treatments.

My greatest blessing is…

having the opportunity to be a father.

My hidden talent is…

measuring with my eyes. I’m freaky good!

Community impact

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

my whole life. I moved away in my 20s to dive but still owned a home here.

What I like best about my community is…

you know someone everywhere you go.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

the Do-Good Grant and scholarship opportunities for members.

Back in the day, members used unique ways to express the need to prepare for the unexpected. Goggles (called "hoodwinks") were sometimes worn by a new member as part of an initiation ritual. Pins (push buttons) on the goggles changed the color seen through eyepieces from black to red, open and closed. This prop showed that things change throughout your life. #ThrowbackThursday
