Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

families need someone local they can trust to help them to make wise financial plans. I want to be that person for others in my community.

I serve members in…

Scottsville, Tompkinsville, and Westmoreland

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

term life insurance, whole life insurance, annuities, and retirement planning

I enjoy working with…

families, teachers, and small business owners in Scottsville, Tompkinsville, and Westmoreland who want clarity on retirement planning and life insurance.

I attended…

Western Kentucky University and Westmoreland High School

I am very proud of…

my 6 years of service in the Allen County School System before I changed careers. Also, being selected as Rookie of the year for the Tompkinsville District in 2025.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked as a science teacher and football coach at James E Bazzel Middle School for 6 years in Scottsville, KY.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

from my first meeting my manager said that my job with Modern Woodmen wouldn't be sales. It would be educating others and giving back in my community. I love that Modern Woodmen stands behind our motto to serve others.

The best part of my career is…

knowing that I am helping protect people that I care about and in turn make a real difference in the community where we raise our family.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I learned how important it is to ask: has anyone ever shown you how to determine the amount of life insurance you really need? I met with a teacher who initially said she was fully protected. I asked this question and we discovered her husband couldn’t afford to keep their home if she passed away. Then we created a plan that both saved her money and protected her family.

“At the end, it's not about what you have or even what you've accomplished. It's about who you've lifted up, who you've made better. It's about what you've given back. - Denzel Washington”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my beautiful wife, Carly, and my girls, Elilah and Brenna.

In my free time, you can find me…

smoking a brisket in my backyard, bingeing tv shows with my wife, or playing with my girls.

I’m passionate about…

my church family, my girls and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers. Go Vols!

My greatest blessing is…

being saved by the grace of God through His son, Jesus.

My personal motto is…

Givers get.

My hidden talent is…

gardening and canning fresh jalapenos and tomatoes every year.

Also…

I am currently pastoring a small Baptist church in Tompkinsville, Kentucky.

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

for the last seven years.

What I like best about my community is…

the way our community comes together during disaster in order to make a difference.

I’m a member of…

Mt. Poland Baptist Church.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

building garden spaces for local special education classrooms and working with special olympics.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

the matching fund program. Seeing the difference it makes when we are able to double the funds for a great cause is amazing.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

the matching fund we did with a local Masonic lodge for the Allen County Special Olympics team. The joy on the faces of the athletes was unforgettable.

Mutual Funds

A mutual fund is just a basket of investments where your money is pooled with thousands of others and spread across many companies for built‑in diversification. If you have a 401(k), Roth, or IRA, this is often the investment driving your ups and downs, so it’s worth knowing exactly what you own.

Most people focus on the balance in their account, but the real driver of long‑term growth is what those dollars are actually invested in. A 401k, Roth, and IRA are not an investment. They are the bucket that holds the investment.

401k

Most people have a 401(k) or 403(b) but don’t realize it’s just a bucket—not the investment itself—and what’s inside is what drives long‑term growth. Before you check your balance again, take a moment to review what your bucket actually holds so there are no surprises later.
