Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I’m passionate about helping my members determine their financial goals. We work together to create a plan based on their unique needs.

I serve members in…

Mississippi and throughout the United States.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

families, those approaching retirement, small-business owners and people with unique situations that require detailed planning.

I attended…

Holmes Community College.

I am very proud of…

earning the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. I am most proud of my daughter, Lillie Claire, and being given the chance to raise her in a wonderful community.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was a volunteer fireman, police officer and then an EMT, where I helped people daily. I now help people by planning for their financial future.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I enjoy helping other people, and Modern Woodmen allows me to help even more people through financial planning and fraternal benefits.

The best part of my career is…

being able to help people plan for their future and put together a plan that meets their needs.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

doing a social event where children were given plain cookies and icing to decorate them for Easter. The kids had so much fun, and I saw lots of smiles that night.

spending time with my daughter and family. I also love to travel and try different places to eat.

I’m passionate about…

serving God and sharing his Gospel.

My greatest blessing is…

my daughter, Lillie Claire, my nephew, Cutler, and my niece, Rowyn. I love spending time with them and making memories.

My personal motto is…

"Be the reason someone smiles today."

My hidden talent is…

cooking the best homemade biscuits!

Community impact

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

my entire life.

What I like best about my community is…

how neighbors still help neighbors.

I’m a member of…

North Winona Baptist Church, Winona Business Association, Rotary Club of Winona and the Kilmichael Lions Club. I also serve on the Kilmichael Volunteer Fire Department.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

Rotary Club of Winona's Rotary Radio Day, where Rotarians become DJs for the day. The event raises funds for scholarships for local high school seniors.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

volunteering alongside other Modern Woodmen members.

Making an Impact on National Food Bank Day! To honor National Food Bank Day, Financial Representatives Matt Bennett and Shed Hunger teamed up with Modern Woodmen of America member Joe Young, who runs the Faith Food Pantry in Charleston, MS. When Joe shared that peanut butter was in high demand, we knew exactly how we could help. We ordered and delivered a supply of peanut butter to support their mission of fighting hunger in our community. 📸 Pictured: Financial Representatives Matt Bennett and Shed Hunger alongside MWA member Joe Young. #NationalFoodBankDay #MakeAnImpact #ModernWoodmen #CommunitySupport #FaithFoodPantry #CharlestonMS #FightHunger

🥫 Beans, Bennett & Hunger: A Legendary Combo 🥫 To celebrate National Food Bank Day, Financial Representatives Matt Bennett and Shed Hunger did what any heroic duo would do: they shed hunger (literally) and beaned up the pantry shelves at Mission Hope. Mission Hope said, “We need canned goods.” We said, “How about a bean-ton of green beans?” Shoutout to Greenlee’s Shoprite, who stepped in like the bean MVPs and helped us stock up faster than you can say “casserole.” This project was made possible by Modern Woodmen members who are Making an Impact in their local communities—one can at a time. 💪 Want to join the fight against hunger (and possibly become a bean legend yourself)? Swing by Mission Hope Monday–Thursday, 8 AM to noon to learn how you can help. 📸 Pictured: Matt Bennett, Shed Hunger, and volunteers looking proud, slightly sweaty, and surrounded by a suspicious number of green beans. #NationalFoodBankDay #BeanThereDoneThat #ModernWoodmen #MakingAnImpact #CommunitySupport #MissionHope #WinonaMS #FightHunger #GreenBeanDreamTeam

We’re so grateful for the incredible support shown by our community! 💙 Recently, a T-shirt fundraiser was organized by the family and friends of Ms. Myra King to help with her medical expenses. When Modern Woodmen Activities Coordinator Manelle Ricketts heard about the effort, she partnered with Matt Bennett to offer a Matching Fund, doubling the impact of every dollar raised. Thank you to everyone who purchased a shirt, shared the cause, or simply sent love and encouragement. Your kindness truly made a difference! 📸 Pictured (L-R): Myra King and Modern Woodmen Representative Matt Bennett (Not pictured: Activities Coordinators Manelle Ricketts and Glenda Jenkins) #CommunitySupport #ModernWoodmen #MatchingFund #Gratitude #SupportLocal

🚨 Welcome to the Team! 🚨 Please join me in welcoming Shed Hunger to our Modern Woodmen team here at the office!
