Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I enjoy sitting down with people in all different walks of life to create financial security and to help them achieve their financial goals. I enjoy being an educator and simplifying the complex terminology used in the financial services world to find the best options for someone, or someone's family or business.

I serve members in…

Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Iowa, but primarily in the Sauk Prairie and Madison areas of Wisconsin.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, stocks, bonds, ETFs, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

everyone! I particularly enjoy helping young families get started with creating financial security and helping take some stress off for small-business owners, since they often wear so many hats.

I attended…

the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

I am very proud of…

my involvement in the Sauk Prairie Optimists, Sauk County Millennial Task Force, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Dane County, Sauk Prairie Chamber of Commerce/Young Connections Group, 6:8, Sauk Prairie Against Hunger, Sauk Prairie Relay for Life, Sauk Prairie Suicide Prevention Council and the various fraternal activities I've completed in the Sauk Prairie and Madison areas.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked in transportation and logistics at C.H. Robinson Worldwide and Penske Truck Leasing.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in the 133 years of our proud history. Modern Woodmen has encouraged me to give back to my community, and it's taught me to help my friends and family members reach their financial goals. The organization has been great to my family through my father's career, but also through the tough times of losing my mother. Modern Woodmen has always been there for my family.

The best part of my career is…

helping people understand their personal finances and figuring out what we can do to help strengthen financial security for their families and businesses. We have the ability to help people at all stages of life and make a positive impact.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my dad, Ken; my stepmom, Judy; my brother, Jason, and his wife, Jessica; my sister, Jessica, and her husband, Travis; my stepsister, Kelsey, and her husband, John; my stepbrother, Kyle, and his wife, Katie; and all of my nieces and nephews: Grayson, Tyler, Gracia, Aiden, Haley, Michiah, Bronwyn, Tristan, Pieper, Ezra, Liesel and one more on the way!

In my free time, you can find me…

watching movies, playing tennis or disc golf, or reading -- probably some boring financial publication like Kiplinger and Forbes :). I also love having friends over and volunteering!

I’m passionate about…

volunteering, especially trying to make the Sauk Prairie community an even better place than it already is.

My greatest blessing is…

my family and friends.

My personal motto is…

"Leave people better off than you found them."

My hidden talent is…

I can move my scalp in a complete circle, or to any direction. Apparently a loose scalp is a healthy scalp, though, so I've got that going for me!

Also…

I have two state titles in tennis. I am also one of the very few Jacksonville Jaguar fans in the state of WI.

Community impact

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

a total of 25 years.

What I like best about my community is…

the amazing people. There's always something going on to make the community a better place, and I'm proud to try to be a part of as much of it as I can.

I’m a member of…

Sauk Prairie Optimists (vice president), Big Brothers/Big Sisters (board member), Sauk Prairie Relay for Life (board member and community relations chair), Sauk Prairie Millennial Task Force (member), Riverway Business Connections (nomination board member), Sauk Prairie Chamber of Commerce, Sauk Prairie Young Connections, Graceway Church, the American Red Cross, Modern Woodmen Chapter 365 (activities coordinator) and occasional helper at the Sauk Prairie Food Pantry.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

the tremendous annual meal-packing events in town, which are always very impactful. We packaged over 217,000 meals last year; this year's goal is to pack more than 250,000! I enjoy any activity that gets me out and about in the community and helping people.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

enjoying social and educational opportunities with my local Modern Woodmen chapter.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

having over 250 people at the Madison Mallards baseball game last year. I get excited when we get a lot of people out having a great time.

Also…

Another special memory is when we filled up the No. 1 Kitchen with over 80 people on a Monday night with my Sauk Prairie chapter.
