Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I enjoy being able to assist individuals and families as they make preparations for their financial futures. Empowering others to build wealth, prepare for retirement, secure life insurance, take care of their families and build a legacy are just a few of the services that I'm able to provide for my members. Educating and assisting clients to navigate through the complexities of life insurance is a key component of financial planning that I'm able to provide to clients.

I serve members in…

Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, California, Ohio, Arkansas and Georgia.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

individuals and business owners, those preparing for or in retirement, and those seeking insurance

I attended…

Northeastern State University.

I am very proud of…

my daughter, who is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, and my son, who is a captain and an Army Ranger.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked for Bank of Oklahoma for over nine years, and I worked as CFO for local nonprofit.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

this organization cares about individuals, families and communities in a great way. I also experienced Modern Woodmen as a member for over 10 years before ever becoming an agent. This gave me a greater passion, understanding and appreciation of how this organization impacts the community while also allowing me to convey to my members my experience as a member -- and now as an agent.

The best part of my career is…

empowering members with knowledge and understanding about life insurance and retirement. I love seeing individuals and companies leave our meetings with a better understanding about their choices when it comes to financial services.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I've experienced appreciation from members who did not understand what their retirement options were or thought it was too late to prepare. After meeting with them, I showed them that you don't have to have a six-figure income to prepare for retirement ... All you need is a plan, and I guided them in developing that plan.

Also…

My most impactful moment was taking care of a death claim for a mother who had lost a child. The child happened to be the same age as my daughter, and from that point on, I realized how valuable my role is to families as an agent on the front and back end of the process.

“My personal motto is, "If you don't like your life, you have the power to change it. Change your thinking and you'll change your life!"”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my daughter, Candace, who is an OU graduate, and my son, Jonathan, who is a captain and Army Ranger.

In my free time, you can find me…

spending time with my beautiful mom, working out, participating in dance classes, or volunteering at my local church and other nonprofits, etc.

I’m passionate about…

my God, my family and helping others.

My greatest blessing is…

my relationship with God and my family.

My personal motto is…

If you don't like your life, you have the power to change it. Change your thinking and you'll change your life!

My hidden talent is…

... ask me and I'll tell you! (:

Also…

I love reading and dancing.

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

for 47 years.

What I like best about my community is…

the friendliness and genuine concern of the people.

I’m a member of…

Praise Center Family Church, Youth At Heart (board member), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and NAIFA.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

mentoring and educating children and youth through fun educational opportunities. I realized I would not be the woman, professional, etc., that I am today if people would not have taken out time to mentor, educate and inspire me as a youth. As a result, I owe a debt to my community to repay at an even greater level from the positive opportunities that were presented to me.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

all of them! Especially Matching Fund projects, which assist individuals and groups in need, and donating children/youth programs.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

raising over $60,000 to assist at-risk children and youth through educational and mentorship programs.

Also…

Another favorite member is raising over $5,000 to assist children of incarcerated parents with self-esteem building, mentorship and education.
