Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others as well as their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.

I serve members in…

Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance and annuities.

I enjoy working with…

people of all ages, whether it be young college graduates, young families planning for their future, those approaching retirement or those who have reached retirement. Modern Woodmen definitely has something for everyone.

I attended…

Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and received a Bachelor of Science in animal science with a minor in business.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was vice president and loan officer at The First State Bank of Keyes, located in Keyes, Oklahoma.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

it genuinely cares about its members and is very supportive in helping them to reach their financial goals. I'm also very proud of the way Modern Woodmen supports my community and allows me to give back to that community through Matching Fund events and other programs.

The best part of my career is…

having that good inner feeling when you've made a positive impact on someone's life by helping them plan for their retirement or protect their family with life insurance.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I was able to give a death claim check to two young men when their father lost his life in a drowning accident. They had no idea that he had life insurance and were overwhelmed that they would have money for the funeral expenses and also to take care of other family needs. They felt like it was truly a godsend!

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wife, Rita, my three daughters and their husbands, Kizzi and Kent Neeland, Kambri and Garrett Harland, and Kassidi and Riley McNabb, and my very special one and only granddaughter, Aubren Kate Harland.

In my free time, you can find me…

on our family ranch, horseback riding, checking on our Angus cow-calf operation or possibly at an event my granddaughter, Aubren, is participating in.

I’m passionate about…

my family, my church, my friends and the blessings of living in the USA!

My greatest blessing is…

my family and the closeness we have for one another.

My personal motto is…

Try to offer encouragement to people, whether it be by spoken word, a handshake or a simple smile. Sometimes a kind greeting can go a long way in making someone feel better for a few minutes.

My hidden talent is…

photography. I have a passion for catching that moment that only lasts a few seconds. I enjoy ranch life photography, as well as family shots.

Community impact

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

my entire life, with the exception of the four years I attended Oklahoma State University.

What I like best about my community is…

the genuine care and support given to one another, especially in someone's hour of need.

I’m a member of…

St. Paul's United Methodist Church, the Boise City Rotary Club and the Cimarron County Chamber of Commerce.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when we raised $19,800 for a young man who was taking chemotherapy and radiation for cancer. We sold raffle tickets for 1/2 a processed beef. Our community was so generous with their donations, and Modern Woodmen backed us by matching $2,500.
