Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others as well as their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.

I serve members in…

the Black Hills Area and surrounding communities in North Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

young and established families, people who are just entering retirement, those who are already retired and concerned about outliving their resources, and small-business owners.

I attended…

South Dakota State University.

I am very proud of…

being a regular Annual Conference winner, and being in the Century Club and President's Club as a representative.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was a loan officer for seven years.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

it is a family-friendly society that gives back to the communities it serves through all its fraternal programs. It truly does things differently than the standard financial services organization.

The best part of my career is…

helping my members. Whether it is planning for their retirement or protecting their family with life insurance, I feel good knowing I helped make a positive impact on their lives.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I was able to deliver a significant death claim to a widow, who now is able to live comfortably without having to rely on Social Security and without just barely getting by from month to month.

Also…

The part about my job that I like the most is the personal relationships I have developed and continue to develop with all of my members.

“I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others as well as their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wife, Becky, my son, Ian, and my daughter, Kendel.

In my free time, you can find me…

on the golf course trying to reach new personal best scores or cheering on my kids in one of the many sports they participate in.

I’m passionate about…

my wife and kids. I also love my North Carolina Tarheel basketball!

My greatest blessing is…

my beautiful wife and awesome kids. I love them so much!

My personal motto is…

you become what you think about all day long.

My hidden talent is…

being able to juggle.

Also…

I enjoy doing home improvement projects. At the end of the day, I can stand back and say, "I did that."

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

since May of 1998.

What I like best about my community is…

it is big enough to have all the options of things to do, but small enough that I run into people I know on a constant basis.

I’m a member of…

Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Ambassadors Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, Youth and Family Services Foundation Board and Meadowbrook Golf Association.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

building something for the communities we serve. Whether it's a ramp for an elderly person or planting trees with the youth club, I like to see the fruits of my labor.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

enjoying social and educational opportunities with my local Modern Woodmen chapter.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when we helped raise over $100,000 for a young gal from Isabel who had cancer and needed money to offset medical expenses associated with her illness.

Also…

I like to help in any way I can. Whether it is something I have experience with or not, I am willing to assist in the process to get things done and done right.
