Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

To me, this job is all about taking the best possible care of our members and making sure they are comfortable and confident with my service. I love getting to know everyone I interact with, and I pride myself on connecting with my members, discerning what concerns them most and finding a solution that addresses those concerns and is affordable. Finances can be a sensitive subject, and families' futures must be handled with care. I aim to always do my best and to have excellent, open communication.

I serve members in…

Northwest Indiana.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

families, small-business owners, schools, churches and nonprofit organizations.

I attended…

Purdue University.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was an electrical technician with Ozinga Ready-mix Concrete.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

the organization gives me the opportunity to achieve the life I want while helping others achieve the lives they want. A job that allows me to help others is a job I want to pour my heart and soul into.

The best part of my career is…

the look on our members' faces after we have created a financial plan that puts their worries to rest and assured them everything will be just fine. It's why I do what I do.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I had been working with a family who had several policies with us and needed help. They hadn't worked with an agent in some time and many things needed to be updated and reorganized. After a few appointments, many calls to the home office, and filing some forms, we finally got everything straightened out and updated. They were so grateful for my help, and we had become good friends. I now have a very close understanding of what their needs and concerns are.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wife, Elaina, and my two dogs, Brandy and Appa.

In my free time, you can find me…

usually working around our house and small hobby farm. We are raising chickens and have a small apple orchard, and we are looking into keeping bees sometime soon.

I’m passionate about…

being good to one another and taking care of the people around me. We are all on this earth trying to get by and be loved. Let's help each other get there.

My greatest blessing is…

my wife and my family. They are my solid foundation and my safety net.

My personal motto is…

there is no such thing as a stranger.

My hidden talent is…

being able to connect with anyone I meet.

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

my entire life. 219 born and raised.

What I like best about my community is…

the diverse lifestyles that come with living in Northwest Indiana. There is the downtown Valpo culture, the beachside lifestyle in Michigan City and the small-town farming communities of Union Mills, Wanatah and Hanna.

I’m a member of…

LaPorte Economic Advancement Partnership (LEAP), Michigan City Chamber of Commerce, Duneland Chamber of Commerce, South County Community Coalition and the LaPorte Jaycees.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

anything that makes our local parks more beautiful, the Deserving Children's Shopping Tour and the LaPorte 4th of July Parade.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

from spring 2019, when we spent over $1,000 on trees for Hanna Park and then spent an afternoon planting them with community members.
