Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, I know all too well how life affect your loved ones. Some life events are amazing blessings while others can be devastating, emotionally and financially. There's not a one-size-fits-all approach to financial planning. I love to help others design a plan that fits their family or business.

I serve members in…

the great state of Texas. Most of my members reside in central Texas, including Austin, Cedar Park and surrounding counties. However, I love a good Texas road trip! I also am licensed in Illinois, Oklahoma and Ohio.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities and mutual funds.

I enjoy working with…

people who really care about those around them, such as family, coworkers and employees. Over the last few years, I've worked with many small-business owners to design and implement plans for themselves and their employees.

I am very proud of…

earning Million Dollar Round Table membership in 2023. I also earned a place in Modern Woodmen's President's Club in 2020, President's Cabinet in 2019 and President's Club in 2018.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

spent 10 years staying home with my kids. As CEO of our household, I handled the craziness of four kids as they went from kindergarten through high school. I also was blessed to be the controller for the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce for five years and a member relation and group service manager for Scott & White Health plan for two years.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

this organization is founded on the principles of caring for widows and orphans. I was impressed by Modern Woodmen's strong commitment to giving back to those in need and to the community where we live, work and play. We put the members' needs first. Financial representatives with Modern Woodmen have long careers. We are a big family.

The best part of my career is…

helping my members have a strong financial future. My members know we've looked at every aspect of their financial future, and I won't recommend anything I wouldn't recommend for my own family.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I was invited to a national conference for one of my business-owners. They introduced me to their fellow attendees, but they didn't just give my name. They said, "No, you don't understand; we LOVE her." I thought I was going to cry. Their trust means the world to me. I'm so thankful for this career!

Also…

I could share many more stories of the amazing members I have the blessing to work with and help. I LOVE my career with Modern Woodmen. We touch lives and secure futures every day.

“I’m passionate about my family, friends and the legacy I will leave behind one day. Life is so short, and you never know when it's going to change. We see it every day. One day, when I leave this body, I pray my family and friends know how much I loved them.”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wonderful husband, Mark; our four beautiful children, Joe, Courtney, Maddie and Cassie; my daughter-in-law, Nichole; four wonderful grandchildren, Adam, Emma, Coti and Clarke; and my sons-in-law, Camron, Ryan and Josh.

In my free time, you can find me…

cooking for friends and family, volunteering at Life Bridge Job Corps, mentoring women in business, and serving my church. Mark and I also love to travel. We recently went on a seven-day cruise to Jamaica, Cozumel and Grand Cayman.

I’m passionate about…

my family, friends and the legacy I will leave behind one day. Life is so short, and you never know when it's going to change. We see it every day. One day, when I leave this body, I pray my family and friends know how much I loved them.

My greatest blessing is…

my family, friends and the life I live. My husband, Mark, is my best friend and the love of my life. He supports me and knows how important my career is and the impact I can make with the stroke of pen. My children are amazing, and I am so proud of them and the adults they have become. And my grandchildren ... well, need I say more!?

My personal motto is…

don't judge others until you have walked a mile in their shoes. We really don't know what others are going through.

My hidden talent is…

I am a pretty good cook. My mom is great at baking and my daddy is great at cooking and BBQ. They both taught me a lot.

Also…

I am a firm believer in prayer. I believe that there is a God and He answers prayers. I would not be the woman I am today, nor would I have achieved success in marriage and life, had I not had Christ in my life.

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

of Williamson County, Texas, for over 25 years. I am a native Texan and, as you can tell, I LOVE Texas.

What I like best about my community is…

Texans are such friendly people. I love the city of Cedar Park, where we live. It's so close to my office in Austin, our church, Austin Christian Fellowship Brushy Creek, and the Christian Resource Center, where Mark serves as director. We both are quite active in community activities.

I’m a member of…

Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce, Leander Chamber of Commerce, BNI Referrals at Twin Creeks, A Girl and a Gun Women's Shooting League, Williamson County Republican Women, and the City of Cedar Park Tourism Board.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

cooking meals for anyone! Every year, Mark and I work with a group to feed over 250 veterans and 100 homeless veterans. It's hard work, but I look forward to it every year. I'm hidden in the kitchen working with lots of others, and we have fun.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

enjoying social and educational opportunities with my local Modern Woodmen chapter.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

planting a tree in memory of a family's late son. Their son went to the same high school my son attended and was a Modern Woodmen member. I met the family at an annual review. After the tree planting, my husband picked up copies of the newspaper article to give to the family. When I went back to deliver the copies, they welcomed me into their home with hugs. What a humbling experience. What an amazing family I am blessed to know!

Also…

Who wouldn't want to get up every morning and know you can make a difference in someone's life with the stroke of a pen? I work for the best company there is.

Serving with the Central Texas Food Bank and the Austin Disaster Relief Network: Packing boxes for families affected by COVID-19

Who knew that the impact of our third annual fundraiser for Reveal Resource Center would be this big? COVID-19 hit, and our lives have not been the same. We raised a lot of money for the food pantry that night and quickly put every penny we made -- and then some -- toward feeding many in the central Texas area. My husband, Mark, our daughter, Maddie, and I went every Thursday to help pack emergency boxes of food. I'm blessed to be able to serve our area. God bless Modern Woodmen for continuing to help food pantries in this area.
