Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I fight for my clients because I know firsthand how financially devastating a premature death can be; it happened to my family. When my younger sister passed away, she left behind three young children and no plan in place for them. Our family was blindsided, not only by her death, but by the immediate expenses of the funeral, adoption fees, and getting the children settled in our homes. I work hard every day to make sure my clients never experience what my family did.

I serve members in…

bright and sunny southwest Florida, including Lee, Charlotte, Collier, and Hendry counties.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

a wide variety of people, including families, the self-employed, retirees, and those who are getting ready to retire -- anyone ready to leave a legacy.

I attended…

and continue to attend to my community by being an active member of the Cape Coral Rotary and the chambers of commerce in Cape Coral and North Fort Myers. I volunteer and give to various local charities, and I share in my faith by attending Abiding Love Lutheran Church.

I am very proud of…

being named Representative of the Year in our area in 2015, 2017 and 2020, and for being one of the top 100 Modern Woodmen representatives nationwide in 2017 and 2020. I've earned trips to Modern Woodmen's sales conference for five years in a row. In my personal life, I couldn't be prouder of my daughters and the outstanding women they have become.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

owned and operated a couple of Chicago-style pizza restaurants, in Cape Coral and North Fort Myers, for over 22 years. I also served as a Lee County sheriff's deputy for six years

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

they are truly a not-for-profit company working to help families and small-business owners build a strong financial future through financial education and advocacy by empowering me to give back to my community.

The best part of my career is…

getting to truly share my passions in life. Educating someone about the importance of life insurance as the foundation of any financial plan, helping older clients protect the money they have worked so hard to save, honestly caring for business owners by saving them money in taxes, and giving back to my community are what get me excited to start the day.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

my daughter and I volunteered at a Modern Woodmen-sponsored food drive for homeless vets, held at the military museum in Cape Coral. Afterward, as we were getting into the car, my daughter turned to me and expressed her shock about how many people we had served that day and how she truly thought it was not the problem it is. Witnessing her grow and learn from this life-changing fact is a precious moment I will always cherish.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wife, Lynn; daughters, Cassy and Brittany; and, of course, Leo, the dog; and Moo, the cow.

In my free time, you can find me…

living the Florida dream: golfing, lounging in a pool, ATV riding, rebuilding motorcycles, watching a Cubs game, or traveling.

I’m passionate about…

my family, my community, and educating my clients to make the right decisions for themselves and their families.

My greatest blessing is…

my family, my health, and the Cubs winning the World Series.

My personal motto is…

"Treat others as you would like to be treated."

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

for almost 40 years. I moved here from the south side of Chicago right after high school.

What I like best about my community is…

not only are we a diverse community with people coming from all over, but we are also a caring community that truly cares for each other and those in need.

I’m a member of…

NAIFA, the Cape Coral Rotary, and the chambers of commerce in both Cape Coral and North Fort Myers.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

any hands-on events: food drives, Christmas for children, planting trees for Habitat for Humanity, etc.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need and our involvement in local food drives through Harry Chapin Food Bank and Cape Caring Center.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

having that moment volunteering with my daughter at the Modern Woodmen-sponsored food drive, when she realized the homelessness needs in our area, and in turn, I got the gift of watching her grow and change through the experience.
