Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I chose this career because it’s all about helping others. I help my members plan for a secure financial future.

I serve members in…

the Willamette Valley and greater metro Portland areas of Oregon. I am also licensed in the states of Washington, Idaho and North Carolina.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

individuals, families, those approaching retirement and small-business owners.

I attended…

Bob Jones University as an employee/student, and I continue my education with designation curriculum at The American College of Financial Services.

I am very proud of…

the accomplishments in my career, such as holding every field contract level with Modern Woodmen, from part-time agent to regional director in the Oregon West Region.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

developed and serviced multiple sales territories with an independent representative organization, serving general industrial accounts in the Northeast.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in the organization - not only for how it supports members to help reach their financial goals, but also for the way it supports our local communities and allows me to give back.

The best part of my career is…

knowing I can make a difference in helping families protect the things that are most important to them: family and finances.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I helped a CNA establish a personal retirement account with a very minimal monthly contribution. She was so proud of herself for getting this started and told all her co-workers what a wonderful organization Modern Woodmen was to care for her needs.

“I chose Modern Woodmen because I believe in the organization - not only for how it supports members to help reach their financial goals, but also for the way it supports our local communities and allows me to give back.”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my devoted wife of over thirty-seven years, our daughter, Cassie, her husband, Edwin, and our three awesome grandsons, Gabe, Josiah and Canaan.

In my free time, you can find me…

planting trees, hanging out in the treehouse with the grandsons and sometimes playing a round of golf.

I’m passionate about…

my family, friends and my saving faith.

My greatest blessing is…

the freedom we enjoy as Americans.

My personal motto is…

when the going gets tough, put the phones on forward and head for the golf course.

My hidden talent is…

being a plant-a-holic. If it can be planted, we'll give it a home.

Also…

I enjoy having our chickens run free and help me with chores around the property. They have personality, believe it or not.

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

going on four years! Modern Woodmen moved my family to Oregon to service the many Modern Woodmen members in the state.

What I like best about my community is…

the amazing people. They genuinely care for one another and give back to make these areas great places in which to live.

I’m a member of…

multiple chambers of commerce, the National Association of Financial Advisors (NAIFA), the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counselors (NAFIC) and Pioneer Baptist Church of Wilsonville, OR.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

Matching Fund projects. It's great to assemble our members together for a common cause and deliver needed funds to worthy recipients.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

taking a widower and his six kids on a shopping spree to a local Wal-Mart. Our Care and Share Program would allow us to provide necessary life items like food and clothing to families in need.

Also…

we enjoy participating in an annual 5k event, "Run Your TUTU Off." This provides funding for a local nonprofit to provide beds and furniture for kids in need.
