Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others and their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.

I serve members in…

Orange County/LA.

I enjoy working with…

young working professionals, families, those approaching retirement and small-business owners.

I attended…

Chapman University.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

held a variety of jobs and internships all over the world.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

of the unique work culture, emphasis on doing the right thing for clients and significant impact I can make on individuals and their families.

The best part of my career is…

being able to educate people on financial stewardship and how to maintain a proper understanding of how they can use money to bless other people.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

a client who was initially hesitant to meet me realized through our meetings how important having these conversations were and thanked me for taking the time to meet with her. She even recommended all her friends and family to do the same. It was heartwarming to see that she truly appreciated the effort and trusted me with her closest friends.

Also…

I love connecting my clients to one another as both my personal and professional network are composed of a diverse group of powerful and talented individuals.

“I serve members in Orange County/LA.”

My life outside of work

my parents and younger sister, Erin.

In my free time, you can find me…

playing basketball, playing music (drums, guitar, piano), traveling the world and learning new hobbies.

I’m passionate about…

Jesus, people, food.

My greatest blessing is…

my personal relationship with Jesus. It gives me a clear focus and perspective in how to live my life for Him.

My personal motto is…

planted, but not buried.

My hidden talent is…

in my prime, I could eat four Double-Doubles in under five minutes.

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

for the past five years.

What I like best about my community is…

the diversity and influx of cultures and different people. I love how you can find so many different types of food and things to do, all within a 30-minute drive!

I’m a member of…

the Cerritos Chamber of Commerce and Diamond Business Networking International (BNI) in Orange County.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

Campus Crusades for Christ (College Ministry), Greek Intervarsity, Homeless Ministry.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

donating youth educational programs to schools.

This year, my stellar office assistant convinced me that she could host a sourdough class at my house as part of Modern Woodmen’s fraternalism goals to create spaces for community and learning. I am so glad I took a risk and said yes. We teamed up with Molly, a local expert, to bring the joy of sourdough baking and connection to clients and friends alike. Everyone left with their own starter and all the materials and information they needed to bake their own naturally leavened bread at home. It's a skill and a gift that keeps on giving!

It was so fun to hang out with clients and friends alike at our first social event of the summer! We ate good food and made new friends to the sweet summer sounds of live music and babbling children. Actually, if I posted a picture of this idyllic scene you'd be too jealous. You'll just have to join us next time. Wherever you are, stay cool!

In January, Southern California residents such as myself watched helplessly as the Palisades and Alta Dena fires burned through places that I know well and love. This tragedy hit close to home, but our Modern Woodmen chapter was able to partner with a non-profit on the ground in LA called Project Ropa to match $2,500 toward their fire relief fund. We also provided over $1000 in supplies and hygiene kits to help them serve our most vulnerable neighbors in Los Angeles affected by the fires. I am proud to work under the Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial umbrella; It’s so much more than investing and life insurance! There’s a reason we advertise being the “Pioneers” for community impact and supporting the ones you love. (Pictured: my stellar office assistant Laura, next to a trunk loaded with supplies ready to be delivered)

One of the reasons that I love working with Modern Woodmen is because as a Fraternal Organization, they do so much more than life insurance and investing. They partner with their agents to directly invest in the things that you care about. Check out how me and our local Southern California chapter of Modern Woodmen [that’s you!], were able to directly affect our community and neighborhood in tangible ways this year. I can’t wait to see what we do with 2025!
