Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others as well as their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.

I serve members in…

Fort Scott, Kansas, and surrounding cities in southeast Kansas. I serve members in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Virginia as well.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

families of all ages for life insurance and retirement options. I enjoy working with business owners for their employee benefits, retirement and life insurance needs also.

I attended…

Fort Scott High School and Fort Scott Community College.

I am very proud of…

the business I have built in our community and the other areas I serve. I am very proud of the five Agent of the Year awards I have received during my career with Modern Woodmen and the awards I have received working with our General Agency. I have also earned Century Club several years during my career with Modern Woodmen.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked as a supervisor/claims auditing trainer for 20 years.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in the organization. Modern Woodmen supports members by helping us help them with their financial planning, and this organization is dedicated to our communities and our families with its fraternal support.

The best part of my career is…

helping members protect their families, and having the tools to be there whenever they need me. This makes a positive impact on their lives.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I assisted a Modern Woodmen member who was planning his final wishes and was able to be there for his family sooner than they thought.

Also…

Modern Woodmen provides so many tools to help our members and prospective members achieve their goals. I am very proud to be part of this organization.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my husband, Jerald, my son, Zach, and daughter-in-law, Abbie, and three grandchildren: twins Jacksen and Masen and grandson Colter.

In my free time, you can find me…

walking or watching my grandkids at the fair and at their ballgames. I am also the mayor of Fort Scott, Kansas.

I’m passionate about…

my family, and my members' security.

My greatest blessing is…

my family and my health.

My personal motto is…

"In the confrontation between the river and the rock, the rock always wins ... not through strength, but by perseverance."

My hidden talent is…

I love baking and making peanut butter fudge.

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

since I was three years old.

What I like best about my community is…

the way we pull together to support anyone who is part of our community for whatever their needs may be!

I’m a member of…

The Fort Scott Nazarene Church, The Chamber of Commerce, Fort Scott Elks Lodge #579, The Fort Scott Library Board.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

the annual Christmas baskets we prepare for hundreds of people in our community. I also love participating in my grandchildren's fair activities and working with elderly people.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

raising money for a lifelong brotherly friend to help with expenses on his final journey.
