Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others as well as their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.

I serve members in…

all of Wisconsin. I am located in Beaver Dam.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

everyone.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked for a nonprofit organization where we helped people achieve their employment goals and get back on their feet.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I am able to help people feel secure in their lives, both now and in their futures. And don't forget all the amazing fraternal events that allow me to give back to the community I live in.

The best part of my career is…

being able to help people reach their goals and creating new friendships every day.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I walked out of a meeting, and the other person thanked me for helping them. They said they felt so much better knowing everyone would be taken care of if something were to happen to them.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my husband, Dale, my daughter, Caitlyn and my son, Collin. We can't forget the dogs, Bandit and Daisey and the cats; Rascal, Cuddles and Bubba!

In my free time, you can find me…

helping around town with various activities, spending time with my family, working on "the building" (as we call it) that my husband and I own, and just enjoying life.

I’m passionate about…

helping make our community the best that it can be.

My greatest blessing is…

the life God has given me.

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

almost my entire life (minus eight months while we were building).

What I like best about my community is…

how everyone always works so hard to make it the best place to live, work and play.

I’m a member of…

the Beaver Dam Area Chamber of Commerce, where I serve as chamber board member and ambassador, the Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation, where I am an advisory committee member, and the Rotary Lights Swan Park committee.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

Rotary Lights at Swan Park. It is a ton of work but looks so amazing when it is complete. Seeing how much the community enjoys the experience makes it all worth it.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

all of them! There are so many ways that our programs can do good! Matching Fund projects are an amazing way for us to give back to the organizations that make up a vital part of our community. And also our service projects, which allow us to help on a more personal basis.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

getting to see how amazing our community members are at giving back. My members and I made a tree out of plywood that hangs outside my office during the winter months. It has clips for hats, mittens and gloves. All winter, it is stocked with items for anyone to take. It doesn't matter if you are young or old or in need of something to keep your hands or head warm, the tree has something for you. The tree has become a yearly tradition, and hats, mittens and gloves are dropped off all year long.

Also…

I love being a part of my community. It is neat to see how old buildings can be turned into something great and new buildings can bring new, exciting places to Beaver Dam!

Teaching Tueaday: Results from Food Drive and Mini Market We were able to collect 401 food items for the Dodge County Food Pantry and get Wally 4 cheat meals! If you don't know about the cheat meals, check out the video a few posts down. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and Kristi at BMO bank for being a drop off location and helping deliver the food! Mini Market was so much fun! We were able to raise $875 for the Good Karma Brands John Moser Children's Radiothon through the raffle baskets and Pizza Ranch Community Imact event! The kids selling their items did a great job! They were all smiles with the amout of customers that came through! I can't say enough about how talented those kids are. We can't wait to host another Mini Market!

Teaching Tueaday: Beaver Dam Pizza Ranch Community Impact Event - Mini Market What is the Mini Market? Kids are having their very own vendor & craft fair! The event is 11am-2pm on Saturday, March 22nd! We would love for you to come support our little entrepreneurs! The kids are working hard to make their items to sell! The Beaver Dam Pizza Ranch is a HUGE supporter of our community! They host Community Impact events for our local non-profits all the time! What do they do exactly? They donate 10% of ALL sales during that time to the non-profit! For the Mini Market, all money raised from the sales and raffle table will be donated to the John Moser Children's Radiothon! What does the radiothon do and where does that money go? It was started by Craig Karmazin in 1998. The Children’s Radiothon raises funds for local non-profit organizations that benefit children in the Dodge County area. Funds are raised throughout the year, and their signature event is the iconic 27-hour on-air auction. With the help of the generous community, the Children’s Radiothon has raised over $2.7 million dollars since 1998. The next radiothon is June 26th & 27th! We would love to see you on the 22nd!

Teaching Tuesday - Birthday's to Remember! First, yes, it is VERY important to remember your significant others birthday! :) Do you try to remember things like, "What age can I start taking money out of my retirement?" or "What age can I start collecting social security?" Here are some birthdays to remember! 50 - You can make additional "catch-up" contributions to your retirement accounts. 59 1/2 - You can take distributions from eligible retirement plans without a 10% early withdrawal penalty. 60 - Social Security survivor benefits may begin for eligible widows/widowers. 62 - Social Security retirement benefits may begin. If you start at 62, your benefit will be reduced compared to if you wait until a later age. 65 - You are eligible to enroll in Medicare starting 3 months before your 65th birthday. 66-67 - Full retirement age for social security retirement benefits. The age will vary based on the year you were born. 1960 or later, your full retirement age is 67. 70 - Social Security retirement benefits are at the maximum you can receive. 73 - You are required to take your RMD (required minimum distribution) from your tax-deferred retirement accounts. You must take your first RMD by April 1 of the year after you turn 73 and subsequent RMDs must be taken annually by December 31st. Remember to work with your financial representative and tax professional when it comes to any of these important birthday questions!
