Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others as well as their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

individuals and families to help them plan for their futures.

I attended…

Cooper High School and Texas A&M Commerce.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was an educator for 35 years, serving as superintendent of Chisum ISD for 10 years. I have served as Texas Rural Education Association president and Texas Council of Women School Executives president.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in the values it promotes. The organization focuses on families and communities and allows me to help each to meet their goals.

The best part of my career is…

seeing the results of people making decisions to protect and plan for their families. I also enjoy seeing the impact of working with members to make a difference in our community.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I had a lady call me her financial advisor, even though I had not sold her anything. She was trying to make better decisions and would call me before she decided to make a purchase to see if that was the right thing to do in order to meet her goals. Her plan is working, and she is so excited.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my husband, Scotty; my son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Amy Stegall, and their son, Mason; my daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Jay Faulkner, and their daughters, Madelyn and Macy; and my son (and boss) and daughter-in-law, Shey and Regan Stegall, and their children, Liam, Lucan, Stella and Reid. I am the oldest of six children and enjoy spending time with family.

In my free time, you can find me…

attending grandchildren's events, working in my yard, reading a book, refinishing furniture, maintaining two bed and breakfasts, working with Lions Club and Delta County Economic Development, and visiting with friends.

I’m passionate about…

my faith in God and letting Him lead me each day. Making my community something we can be proud of is also a passion of mine. I also try to keep a positive attitude toward all situations.

My greatest blessing is…

my family and friends. I am also blessed with good health and a caring community.

My personal motto is…

Yes you can. With God all things are possible.

My hidden talent is…

cake decorating.

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

most of my life.

What I like best about my community is…

the people. Although we are not wealthy in financial standards, we are wealthy in friendships and support. The community comes together to support one another and to help one another when a need arises. I also love the history my community has.

I’m a member of…

First United Methodist Church where I teach Sunday School, Lions Club where I am president, Delta Kappa Gamma, Delta County Chamber of Commerce, Delta County Economic Development Corporation where I am the chair, Maroon and Gray Education Foundation, Lamar Delta Retired Teachers Association and Texas Council of Women School Executives.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

keeping my grandchildren working on projects for my community, reading to children at school and helping to host a women's conference in the spring of each year.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

donating youth educational programs to schools.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

watching kindergarten children learn about trees and how to plant them and seeing the looks on their faces when the project was completed.
