Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others and their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.

worked in various aspects of financial services and insurance, from brokerage back office to banking, lending, and home and auto insurance.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I wanted to work for an organization that gave me the opportunity to give back to my community, not shareholders. I love the fraternalism that exists as part of our everyday operations!

The best part of my career is…

helping my members reach their goals and overcome obstacles in their lives.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I made the decision to take the jump and start my own practice. I wish I had found Modern Woodmen years ago!

helping others. When I'm not helping others at work, I'm involved in various volunteer organizations and groups.

my family. I am very close to not only my own children, but also my mother, father and sisters.

cooking! When I'm able to experiment in the kitchen, it's almost like therapy!

my entire life, except during college when I was in San Diego.

the people. When my family has gone through trying times, the people in this community have always stepped up to help carry the burden and let us know we are loved.

anything where I can make a difference for the kids in our community.

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

being able to help make up funding losses for Hope House through a Matching Fund pancake feed.

Back in the day, members used unique ways to express the need to prepare for the unexpected. Goggles (called "hoodwinks") were sometimes worn by a new member as part of an initiation ritual. Pins (push buttons) on the goggles changed the color seen through eyepieces from black to red, open and closed. This prop showed that things change throughout your life. #ThrowbackThursday
