I used to think working 7 days a week meant I was winning... I was actually losing. This week is National Workaholics Week. Why does this matter? I mean it really means nothing to most of us. There seems to be a national holiday to everything nowadays. National hot dog day. National ice cream day. National graham cracker day. The list goes on and on. Why is this week important to me? I used to be a workaholic. Never giving myself a break. Working every single weekend. Saying yes to everything. It was exhausting. I was burnt out. Everyday, I worked for hours. And it still felt like I was behind. One day, I finally decided to make that change. I took a vacation. No wifi. No notifications. Just the outdoors. It was the best. And I came back more ready than ever to get back to work! I got my spark back. From now on, I block off time in my calendar for me. Time to go the gym. Time to spend with family. It’s been the best decision. It allows me to do what I love outside of work. No one deserves to be glued to work 24/7. If you are currently struggling, remember that there is hope.
