Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I do what I do because I have a passion to help people in any manner, especially when it comes to helping people achieve their financial goals and dreams.

I serve members in…

Michigan, Indiana and Illinois.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

a variety of people. I love working with young families who are just starting their financial planning, those approaching retirement and small-business owners.

I attended…

Kellogg Community College and Aquinas College.

I am very proud of…

the fact that every day I get to sit down and help people protect their families or businesses with life insurance, and that I can help them plan for retirement.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

graduated college with a teaching degree and was unable to find a teaching job. I was fortunate enough to have been given a job opportunity on a large crop farm, where I worked until I started my financial services practice with Modern Woodmen.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

of our fraternalism. When I was about 12 or so, my now-regional-director, Rob Keorkunian, and his wife, Nicole, showed up at my mom's house with hats, coats and gloves for my sisters and I. That one simple act of kindness always stuck with me. When I had the opportunity to become a representative with Modern Woodmen, I knew this is an organization I wanted to be a part of.

The best part of my career is…

the relationships. I have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with people every day.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I delivered my first death claim. Once you have delivered a death claim to a family, you instantly gain an understanding of the power of life insurance and what it really does for families. That money that you bring to the family can't bring their loved one back, but it can pay a mortgage off, replace income, put the kids through college and create a legacy for the loved one who is no longer here.

“I serve members in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois.”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my mom, Julie, and my dad, Dan. I have two sisters, Danielle and Ashley, and a brother-in-law, Chris. I also have a beautiful wife, Heather, and our son, Mack!

In my free time, you can find me…

possibly at the golf course, hunting, at sporting event or out in the yard working.

I’m passionate about…

the group of close friends I have. I am very fortunate to have a close group of friends that Heather and I spend a lot of time with.

My greatest blessing is…

my family. I am fortunate to have a mom who showed me compassion is an important part of life and a father who showed me what work ethic was about.

My personal motto is…

"Dream bigger!"

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

my entire life!

What I like best about my community is…

the amazing people.

I’m a member of…

the Decatur Chamber of Commerce, Decatur Downtown Development Authority, Three Rivers Downtown Development Authority, NAIFA, NAIFIC and Pheasants Forever.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

any that allow me to work with kids and my community!

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when we raised more than $7,000 to provide a memorial sign for a mother and daughter at our school and a brand new welcome sign for our town.

Giving back to local veterans!

Helping local veterans is important to me. I wanted to involve my local chapter, while personally involving a veteran. Together my high school friend, Matt, a former sniper in the Marines, and I create a golf outing. Now, in its third year, we have raised over $25,000 for veterans and their families. When we learned that roughly 25% of those assisted through Feeding America are veterans and their families, we decided to earmark the funds raised to help those military families in need. Modern Woodmen matching funds has enabled us to further increase our impact. With the success of the golf outing, Matt also decided to create a Section Collection. It's held every year to collect food, clothing, and toiletries for local military families. Last year his event collected an entire semi-truck of donations, which were delivered to our local vets, many in Decatur, Michigan, as well as to the Silver Start apartments which houses veterans.

Let’s talk about how you can give peace of mind that lasts a lifetime.

This holiday season, reimagine what giving back can look like. Here are a few ways to make heartfelt community gestures. 1. Partner with a local animal shelter to host a “pet pantry” of donated pet food, treats and toys. 2. Organize a holiday story hour at a local library or school and read seasonal books aloud. 3.
