Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I chose this career because it’s all about helping others. I help my members plan for a secure financial future.

I serve members in…

the Quad Cities and surrounding towns in both Iowa and Illinois. With Zoom, I can meet with someone from across the country.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, stocks, bonds, ETFs, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

families, individuals and business owners to plan for their futures and obtain financial security.

I attended…

Monmouth College, Monmouth, Illinois, for my bachelor's degree in business administration, and Western Illinois University, Macomb, Illinois, for my Master of Business Administration degree. Go Fighting Scots and Leathernecks!

I am very proud of…

my decision to move from working in Modern Woodmen’s home office to becoming a financial representative. Now, I can help friends, family and community members reach financial security through the life insurance, retirement and financial services products Modern Woodmen offers.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was a student athlete. I started my Modern Woodmen career after graduating from Monmouth College in 2011. Growing up, I enjoyed baseball, football and hockey, which taught me the teamwork and discipline that has helped me get to where I am today.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I needed a job! After my college graduation, I told Mom and Dad I found a job and could finally move out of the basement. I’ve continued my career with Modern Woodmen because of what the organization stands for and how we help communities across the country – not only through the financial products we offer, but also the emphasis on community service and giving back.

The best part of my career is…

building relationships and learning about individual’s needs. We help people examine their specific situation and create a plan to achieve financial security, so they don't have to worry about their family's future. It's teamwork!

A favorite moment in my career was when…

after a decade working at the home office, I decided to start my own office so I could better serve my family, friends and community through Modern Woodmen’s products and member programs.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wife, Jamie, our two boys, Hudson and Nash, and our dog, Jackson.

In my free time, you can find me…

spending time with Jamie and the boys. I also enjoy getting on the golf course with friends when I have the chance.

I’m passionate about…

helping others. I enjoy meeting new people and hopefully making their lives better. Helping people achieve financial security through Modern Woodmen is special to me!

My greatest blessing is…

my family, friends and enjoying time with them.

Community impact

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

more than a decade. I moved to the Quad Cities right after college. I grew up in Morrison, Illinois. Go Mustangs!

What I like best about my community is…

how much there is to do. During the summer, there’s always some sort of festival. We have the River Bandits minor league baseball team at Modern Woodmen Park, overlooking the Mississippi River and Modern Woodmen home. Jamie and I also enjoy trying different local restaurants.

I’m a member of…

the board of directors at Alternatives for Older Adults in Western Illinois.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

Matching Fund and service projects through Modern Woodmen chapters.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Money Masters Workshops to help educate all ages on financial security.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

a Matching Fund project that raised $1,000 through a golf outing to support a family’s medical costs for their little girl battling leukemia.

Retiring in 2026? Here are three year-end retirement planning tips to help you make the most of your finances before the calendar flips. 1. Maximize retirement contributions. Boost your 401(k), IRA and HSA savings before limits reset! 2. Delay Social Security (if you can). Waiting equals bigger monthly checks later. 3.
