Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

It's all about helping people. I want people to understand the simple steps they can take today to ensure a healthy financial future.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was a business owner for 12 1/2 years, working in the transportation industry.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in the organization – not only for how it supports members to reach their financial goals, but also for the way it supports my community and allows me to give back.

The best part of my career is…

knowing that I have helped someone make decisions that will positively impact their future in significant ways.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wife, Robbie; sons, Caleb, Seth and Lucas; and daughter, Hannah.

In my free time, you can find me…

in the woods hunting, fishing or hiking.

My greatest blessing is…

my wife and kids.

My hidden talent is…

I sing and play multiple instruments.

Community impact

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

all of my life. I grew up in Royse City, and I've lived in Caddo Mills for the past 17 years.

I’m a member of…

High Point Assembly of God in Royse City and Caddo Mills Chamber of Commerce

My favorite volunteer activities are…

running three All Pro Dad chapters. I also enjoy serving as a teaching pastor and in music ministry at Highpoint Assembly of God in Royse City.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

fraternal projects. Giving back to the community, both financially and in practical, hands-on ways, has been my favorite part of Modern Woodmen.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

assisting an organization in Dallas that helps older adults keep their homes up to code. We gave the organization a check for $10,000 and spent a day helping repair homes.

Our Birthday Book Club program is one step toward building your home library! Each year, member children can receive a free, age-appropriate book for their birthday. Ask me how to sign up your child.

It's 30 days until Tax Day. Are you prepared? This is a great time to review what you’re saving in your IRA. Let’s meet to discuss your retirement goals.

Ready to declutter your finances? Here are five tips to spring clean your budget. 1. Conduct your own expense audit. Go through the last one to three months of expenses and locate potential wasteful spending. 2. Cancel or reduce subscriptions. Ask yourself if there are any you can downgrade. 3. Set spending caps. Set limits on a few categories – like eating out, shopping or coffee runs – to remain flexible. 4. Map out irregular expenses. Put money aside for things like car repairs, gifts, home maintenance and travel to prepare for the future. 5. Set one budget goal per month. Examples include reducing food delivery by $80, paying off a bill or building an emergency cushion.

Did you or your student apply for one of the 2026 Modern Woodmen scholarships? Winners will be notified in April. Best of luck and keep following your dreams!
