Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am passionate about helping others secure their futures.

I serve members in…

Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance protection, retirement planning and saving.

I enjoy working with…

everyone.

I attended…

Lyndon State College (now Northern Vermont University).

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was an elementary school teacher in my hometown for 27 years.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in the organization - not only for how it supports members to reach their financial goals, but also for the way it supports my community and allows me to give back.

The best part of my career is…

meeting with people, helping my members and knowing that I am making a positive impact on my community.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

my chapter hosted Matching Fund event for two community members who lost their home to flooding. Bringing the community together to raise over $12,000 and presenting the recipients with the money made my job so worthwhile.

““You may find that making a difference for others makes the biggest difference in you.” – Brian Williams”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my husband, Arnold; my son, Thomas, and his girlfriend, Laura; my daughter, Elisabeth, and her husband, Kyle; my dad, Jack; my granddaughter, Addison; and my grandson, Jackson.

In my free time, you can find me…

curling up with a good book, baking with my grandchildren, or watching TV with my family.

I’m passionate about…

volunteering in my community and Saturday-night family dinners.

My greatest blessing is…

my family.

My personal motto is…

if you can be anything, be kind!

My hidden talent is…

making peanut butter whoopie pies.

Also…

I’m a crazy chicken woman!

Community impact

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

for over 27 years. I’ve lived in Vermont most of my life.

What I like best about my community is…

when there’s a need, people step up to help.

I’m a member of…

Burke PTO.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

helping local veterans, children and older adults. Organizing fundraisers is one of my favorite activities.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

chapter activities, including my 25 years as a youth service club leader.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when held a potluck and raffle to raise over $17,000 to help a local teacher pay medical expenses. We took leftover food to a local organization that feeds people in need.
