Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I chose this career because it’s all about helping others. I help my members plan for a secure financial future.

I serve members in…

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Arizona, primarily Red Wing, Rochester, Winona and Hastings.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance and annuities.

I enjoy working with…

families, those approaching retirement, and small-business owners.

I attended…

the American College and Minnesota State College.

I am very proud of…

having earned my Financial Services Certified Professional® and Fraternal Insurance Counselor Fellow designations. I'm also proud of having earned President's Club and Century Club status, qualifying for Modern Woodmen's National Sales Conference for 15 years, and serving as secretary treasurer for FIC for the state of Minnesota.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was a meat wrapper for Econ Foods and a shift manager for Pizza Hut, and I ran Little Tots Day Care.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in the organization – not only for how it supports members to help them reach their financial goals, but also for the way it supports my community and allows me to give back.

The best part of my career is…

helping my members. Whether it's planning for their retirement or protecting their families with life insurance, I feel good knowing I help make a positive impact on their lives.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

we helped a young lady build a ramp and a deck for her wheelchair. It was a tear-filled day and so rewarding to watch her go up her ramp. A second most memorable moment was a hard moment -- delivering my first death claim to a family. That's when I knew I had the best job best job in the world, when I delivered that "love letter" to the family. The family was so grateful to have enough money for the funeral, plus enough to create a scholarship in memory of her.

Also…

I enjoy helping people learn how to protect their families in times of need and plan for retirement. My member clients are so important to me - they are NOT just clients but my family. Each one of them has a special place in my heart.

“I chose this career because it’s all about helping others. I help my members plan for a secure financial future.”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my husband, Paul, and my children, Kristina, Valerie, Jacob, Autumn and David. My five beautiful grandchildren, Samuel, Abigale, Kaden, Kolten, and Kasen are my pride and joy.

In my free time, you can find me…

fishing, camping in our RV, riding our Harley or golfing.

I’m passionate about…

my family and grandchildren and my friends. I have a great time camping and riding our motorcycle with them, making beautiful memories. And I love being a Elk's board member, helping children and veterans.

My greatest blessing is…

my family being by my side.

My personal motto is…

always remember the Golden Rule: Treat others how you would like to be treated.

My hidden talent is…

I love to bake and cook different kinds of food.

Community impact

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

for about 34 years.

What I like best about my community is…

the amazing people here along the Mississippi River. People are so friendly. We have a lot of history here -- pottery, Red Wing shoes and antiques. It's all here! People in our town pull together, especially when families need help building playgrounds or fundraising. I'm proud to live here. It's beautiful; it's my home.

I’m a member of…

and Exalted Ruler for the Red Wing Elks Lodge #845, working with veterans and children in need.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

hands-on activities where I can see the results of my hard work, anything where I can bring my kids/grandchildren to teach the importance of giving back, or working with the seniors in my community.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

volunteering alongside other Modern Woodmen members.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when we did a fundraiser to build a universal playground at Colvill Park. We had so much teamwork in our community. There was a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and we watched children in wheelchairs and other children with disabilities and adults enjoying the playground. I saw many tears of joy.

Also…

I want to make a difference in people's lives and be there for them in good times and sad times. I want to give them knowledge in their financial goals and make their dreams come true.
