Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others as well as their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.

I serve members in…

Florida, Alabama and Georgia.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance and annuities.

I attended…

Jefferson Davis Community College and Auburn University at Montgomery.

I am very proud of…

being a part of Modern Woodmen fraternalism since 2002. My chapters have maintained premier status, meaning we take advantage of all MWA available funds for our community. Through my participation in fundraisers and community service projects, we have made a large impact in our communities. I'm also proud of receiving Employee of the Month at Select Specialty Hospital, and of graduating with honors from Jefferson Davis Jr College.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked in the medical field for 23 years full-time while also serving as activities coordinator for Modern Woodmen since 2002.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in this organization - not only for how it supports members to reach them reach their financial goals, but also for the way it supports our community and allows me to give back.

The best part of my career is…

helping my members. Whether it's planning for their retirement or protecting their families with life insurance, I feel good knowing I have helped make a positive impact on their lives.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I understood how important planning is and how I make a difference in people's lives.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my husband, Erbie; daughter, Carlie; two sons, Casey and Correy; two daughters-in-law, Kelley and Amanda; one son-in-law, Shane; and four grandchildren, Keaton, Bryce, Kali and Kami.

In my free time, you can find me…

sitting on the sidelines at the volleyball court, football and softball fields, cheering on my grandchildren; gardening; canning veggies and jams; working in the yard with flowers (especially my ferns); working food plots; deer hunting; fishing with my husband, son and grandkids; having cookouts with family and friends; and building and sitting by a fire anytime I get a chance, especially on a cool evening.

I’m passionate about…

family and friends.

My greatest blessing is…

my family and my health.

My personal motto is…

think positive and positive things will come your way.

My hidden talent is…

making homemade salsa with our homegrown veggies.

Also…

I have been working on a barn (metal building) for many years, starting with us placing the poles. It has been the process of accomplishments. We cleaned up and re-beautified the property of a old grown-up home place. It's where we garden, do the canning, work with my flowers and ferns, have food plots for deer, have cookouts and family gatherings, watch college football games and build fires in the fire pit on cool evenings.

Community impact

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

my entire life. Born and raised in Flomaton on the Alabama side of the state line, and now in Century on the Florida side of the state line!

My favorite volunteer activities are…

participating in fundraisers and community service activities where I can make a impact on a person or family during the event of unexpected crisis in their lives.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

delivering checks to parents from Matching Fund activities when their children have been diagnosed with medical conditions. Our fundraising helps pay for medical expense and, when the unthinkable happens, for end-of-life expenses.
