Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others as well as their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.

I serve members in…

California and Arizona.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

families, schools, those approaching retirement, business owners and seniors.

I attended…

Indio High School and Skadron College of Business.

I am very proud of…

earning my FICF designation and being a three-time Ken Napper award winner - our regional fraternal award.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked at Riverside County DPSS and coached basketball.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

of the fraternal impact and the fact that our clients are valued members. We help them reach their financial goals, and they have the benefits of membership.

The best part of my career is…

helping my members and serving our community with events and Matching Fund projects.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I presented a Hometown Hero award to a lady who had made over 180 quilts for children in foster care facilities. She told me that receiving the award was one of best moments of her life.

Also…

I appreciate being there in the time of need for my members with death claims and seeing them work toward their financial goals.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wife, Debbie; my son, Jeff and daughter-in-law Lori; grandsons Coleman and Joseph, and stepdaughter Crystal and granddaughter Juliana.

In my free time, you can find me…

spending time with my grandkids, at the beach with Debbie or at a concert.

I’m passionate about…

my family and friends, USC football and LA Kings hockey, and music.

My greatest blessing is…

my daily blessings from the Lord.

Community impact

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

my entire life!

What I like best about my community is…

it is a well-known (Palm Springs) area with a lot of big events (Coachella and Stagecoach Music Festivals, BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament) - yet it has a small-town feel and everybody knows everybody.

I’m a member of…

my church.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

Awanas, and all the Modern Woodmen fraternal activities and community programs. I have a strong passion to serve and give back to the community!

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

enjoying social and educational opportunities with my local Modern Woodmen chapter.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when we raised $5,000 to help a young boy (age 6) who had cancer. The money helped offset medical expenses. We hosted a Mexican dinner and provided homemade cupcakes. It was very meaningful to see the family and the members work hard to make the event a success -- great food and a lot of fun.

Also…

I work closely with schools - day care centers and public and private schools. We provide free youth educational programs. In my 23 years with Modern Woodmen, I have developed close relationships with the schools and the staffs.
