Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

Because I have the opportunity to build lifelong relationships with the members and clients I serve.

I serve members in…

the greater Magic Valley area and farmers throughout the Pacific Northwest.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, stocks, bonds, ETFs, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

individuals, families and small-business owners. I specifically enjoy working with farmers, cattlemen and dairymen because of the unique retirement needs that are specific to their industry.

I am very proud of…

my 18+ years of service to the greater Magic Valley area.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

was a part-owner and manager of a family farm.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

they offered me an opportunity to build lifelong relationships with those I serve.

The best part of my career is…

the great sense of satisfaction of helping people overcome financial obstacles by using the sound financial strategies and products Modern Woodmen has offered people and communities for over 135 years.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

a local fraternal volunteer called me with her story. I'll remember it for a long time. She shared how Modern Woodmen had helped with a community food drive. This volunteer then delivered the groceries to a needy family. She became very emotional as she talked about the sense of satisfaction experienced by joining with Modern Woodmen to make a real difference in this family’s life.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wife and adult children. We recently became grandparents. Our adult children live out of state. We attempt to have annual family reunions here on our farm.

In my free time, you can find me…

walking the canyon rim trails, hiking the South Hills or kayaking with my wife. Or you could also find me and my wife tending to our farm animals or our small orchard.

My hidden talent is…

agriculture. It has been over 20 years since my primary occupation was farming. But today I live on a ten-acre farm. I tend a small orchard and raise beef cows. I find the physical work rewarding and relaxing. It also provides me a firsthand understanding of the financial realities faced by my many farm clients.

Also…

I enjoy photographing the wonderful scenery that can be found near the rivers, trails and mountains of southern Idaho.

Community impact

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

for over 20 years.

What I like best about my community is…

the people and the easy access to great recreational activities!

My favorite volunteer activities are…

Matching Fund activities. I do several of these activities a year to benefit the greater Magic Valley. These service projects benefit area fire departments, pet shelters and schools.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when members from our local community and I teamed up with the Filer Fire Department to sponsor a fundraising dinner. The proceeds from this dinner were matched by Modern Woodmen of America, and the funds raised allowed the fire department to refurbish its portable classroom. The newly remodeled classroom has since been used to further their efforts to promote fire safety.

Also…

I enjoy the richness of Idaho's agricultural economy and its unique rural scenery. The accompanying photo is of my wife, daughter and I in our pasture. Some might say I am "out standing in my field."

Valley House Fundraiser

This is a photo of me presenting a $3,000 donation to Sharon Breshears, director of Valley House. Modern Woodmen's youth service club leaders and adult chapters came together during these uncertain times to support our local homeless shelter, Valley House of Twin Falls, Idaho.
