Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

Blessed to help people strive for their financial goals and get to that dignified retirement we all dream to have. Each day, I meet with clients and create a financial plan. This plan assists people to overcome financial concerns and obstacles and get them on the path to their future goals. Through fraternal programs and activities, I am the conduit between my community and Modern Woodmen, giving back. It’s a very rewarding career!

I serve members in…

Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Arkansas and Texas.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

individuals, families, those approaching retirement, farm families and business owners.

I attended…

Colby Community College and Fort Hays State University, both in Kansas.

I am very proud of…

obtaining the Career Development Award my first year with Modern Woodmen, earning the 2018 Modern Woodmen trip award, and serving three years in Kansas as a managing partner and now six years as a financial representative.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked in the grain industry since 1998, helping farm families with grain marketing and crop insurance.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I believe in this organization – because of its support of members to help them reach their financial goals, its integrity, and the way it supports my area communities, allowing me to give back!

The best part of my career is…

gaining new members and helping current members. Whether planning for their retirement or protecting their family with life insurance, I feel good knowing I helped make a positive impact on their lives, both today and in the future!

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I understood just how important the plans I help with are to families. I went with my manager to deliver a death benefit. The woman's son had passed away and was in his 40s. She was able to give the money to his wife and children for funeral expenses and other needs, and they were able to stay in their home.

Also…

I want to help educate people on their options and guide them on what would be best for their goals in their lives. Whether I'm talking about financial goals and protecting assets, or sitting down with clients to serve them and teach them about Modern Woodmen's success since 1883, I know I will be a valuable asset to my community and to individual families in Kansas!

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my son, Garrett; parents, Tom and Carol; sister, Jacque; and brothers, Ty and Rob.

In my free time, you can find me…

visiting my family, working on my parents' farm, camping, hunting, fishing, or riding and training horses.

I’m passionate about…

my God, my family and friends, my career, and continuous learning.

My greatest blessing is…

being a mom! I am truly blessed in so many ways!

My personal motto is…

believe good things will happen, and they will!

My hidden talent is…

I train horses, but especially horse people. Sometimes I sing at church.

Also…

If I could live anywhere it would be Kremmling, CO, or rural New Mexico, as I love the drier climate. Fun fact, I have an entomology collection that K-State wanted back when I was in high school! SECRETLY I'M AN INSECT NERD!

Community impact

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

for 17 years.

What I like best about my community is…

the great people who are so neighborly! Living in rural America is a little secret treasure!

I’m a member of…

Kansas Financial Insurance Counselors' Board, American Quarter Horse Association, Modern Woodmen Chapter 407 Coordinator, and Olathe Animal Science and Research Board for Olathe schools.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

Modern Woodmen chapter service projects for 5 chapters in Kansas, judging horse shows and rodeo queen contests, and conducting horsemanship clinics in the state.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

meeting all the members.

Thanking essential workers

As a local chapter service project, my members and I provided treats and soda to the staff at local nursing homes. Modern Woodmen provided signs for us to place in the yards outside, which helped to recognize the essential workers at these nursing homes. Even though we weren't able to stay and enjoy the treats with the employees, they were very happy to be appreciated.
