Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I love working with individual members to help them achieve their financial goals.

I serve members in…

southeast South Dakota and northeast Nebraska.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

families, small-business owners and those approaching retirement.

I attended…

Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota.

I am very proud of…

being in the business for 12 years and achieving the Rookie of the Year award from Modern Woodmen in my second year.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked with Senior Meals and a senior center, providing community resources for the over-55 population.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I can continue providing valuable resources to older people, as well as families and new professionals. I love helping members reach their financial goals, from college education to retirement income to life insurance. The best part is giving back to the communities.

The best part of my career is…

working with each member every year and knowing I am making them more comfortable in planning for the future.

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I presented a Hometown Hero award and saw the recipient's appreciation. I was celebrating her volunteerism, but she was thanking me. I was so happy to honor her.

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my husband, Doug; stepdaughter, Lori; son, Joseph and his wife, Michelle; and granddaughter, Lilly Lorraine.

In my free time, you can find me…

reading, riding my bike or working with my horses.

I’m passionate about…

family and staying healthy.

My greatest blessing is…

my family.

My personal motto is…

to be positive and take care of those in need.

My hidden talent is…

crocheting.

Community impact

In the community

In the community

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

15 years.

I’m a member of…

Modern Woodmen, Red Cross, the Yankton Chamber of Commerce, Core of Discovery Welcome Center and the River Rat Marathon.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

fun activities that involve kids and seniors.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects for individuals and volunteer organizations in need. By helping raise money, the entire community benefits.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when members and a local youth service club decorated sugar cookies to help a senior center raise funds for a new refrigerator.

Also…

I'm proud of a Matching Fund project for an 18-month-old with brain cancer. Every penny would help his fight and give his parent a little peace of mind.
