Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I am so blessed to be able to make a living by helping others as well as their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to be able to do what I do.

I serve members in…

the "QC, that's where!" and the surrounding areas.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

everyone from young adults interested in getting a head start toward their financial goals to those in retirement and everyone in between!

I attended…

St. Ambrose University where I graduated magna cum laude with bachelor's degrees in marketing, accounting and finance.

I am very proud of…

the fact that I started this career as young as I did and to be a woman in a male-dominated industry!

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked for four years at Russell Construction, where I held various roles in marketing, business development, accounting and fundraising for local nonprofits. I would have never imagined that the experience I gained from a construction company would be so relevant in my career today! I also have a strong background in fundraising. Throughout college I served as the Fundraising Director for SAU's Dance Marathon, where I used my passion for serving others to lead the organization.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

of the impact I am able to make on people's lives! Whether it's through our fraternal programs with Matching Fund donations or helping individuals, families and small businesses reach their financial goals, I absolutely love what I do. I never thought I'd be able to find a career that encompasses all three of my degrees -- marketing, accounting and finance-- and ties in my passion for fundraising and helping others. It truly is the most rewarding career and a perfect fit for me!

The best part of my career is…

seeing people have that "Aha!" moment when they realize the value in what I do. Being only 23 when I started at Modern Woodmen, I work with a lot of younger individuals who often think topics like life insurance and retirement planning don't concern them yet. I love helping them realize that putting these financial plans in place at a young age is one of the best things you can do for your future self!

A favorite moment in my career was when…

I became one of the first 10 financial representatives in the nation to pass Modern Woodmen's new onboarding program after passing my Series 6 and 63 in a 15-day window!

My life outside of work

My family includes…

some incredible individuals! My parents, Todd and Michelle, still reside in my hometown of Erie, Illinois. They have been and always will be my biggest fans and my greatest support system. I am also the proud big sister of my little brother, Blake. Unfortunately, he had to decline his appointment to the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, after an injury, but he is currently making us proud at the University of Iowa as an ROTC cadet. Go Army!

In my free time, you can find me…

interior designing, shopping or working on a DIY project. I also like to spend my weekends visiting local wineries and coffee shops with my friends and family!

I’m passionate about…

making a difference in people's lives. Whether it's through my career, volunteering or just throughout my day-to-day life, I strive to be someone who leaves a positive impact on the world.

My personal motto is…

"Don't ever stop shining just because someone is intimidated by your light."

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

my entire life! I grew up in the small town of Erie, Illinois, on the outskirts of the Quad Cities. After graduating from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, I moved to the Quad Cities, where I have lived ever since.

What I like best about my community is…

our passion for supporting local and shopping small!

I’m a member of…

the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, where I serve as a Chamber ambassador. I am also involved with fundraising and volunteering for several local nonprofits, including St. Ambrose University's Dance Marathon, HAVlife and United Way.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

anything involving fundraising!

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

Matching Fund projects to raise money for those in need.

My favorite memory from a fraternal event is…

when our chapter was able to use Modern Woodmen's Matching Fund Program to help support St. Ambrose University's Dance Marathon Big Event (to raise funds for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital) in 2021. As someone who has poured thousands of hours into leading fundraising efforts for this organization, it was very rewarding to be able to come full-circle and present them with a large check. I still get goosebumps watching the video where I announced that Modern Woodmen would be matching up to $2,000! Here is a link to the video: https://www.facebook.com/saudancemarathon
