Why I do what I do

Why I do what I do

I’m so blessed to make a living by helping others and their communities. Each day, I sit down and help people overcome financial concerns and obstacles. I also get to help my community with our fraternal programs and activities. It’s very rewarding to do what I do.

I serve members in…

Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Louisiana.

I can help you plan for life using a variety of tools, including…

life insurance, annuities, mutual funds and variable annuities.

I enjoy working with…

families and individuals of all ages. I help create personalized and flexible financial plans to secure their futures.

I attended…

Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in 2012 and my master’s degree in sports administration in 2014.

Before Modern Woodmen, I…

worked as an athletic supervisor for the Starkville Parks and Recreation Department. I oversaw all community recreational sports and tournaments, and I employed staff for leagues and activities. Now, I serve my community through financial planning and fraternal activities, offering options to plan for a safe and secure financial future.

I chose Modern Woodmen because…

I have a passion for people, and our organization is focused on communities and families. Through Modern Woodmen, I have an amazing avenue to reach a wide range of people and help them create a plan to reach their goals.

The best part of my career is…

the relationships I have with my members. As a fraternal financial organization, our members come first, and that brings me the most joy. From the minute I wake up to the minute I go to sleep, my full-time job is caring for people, helping them reach their long-term and immediate financial goals, and providing an essential service to my community.

“I’m passionate about people. Plain and simple. I love people, and I love every opportunity I have to engage with and serve people.”

My life outside of work

My family includes…

my wonderful wife, Caroline, and our two kiddos, Bennett and Jack.

In my free time, you can find me…

playing any sport I can, enjoying a walk with my wife and sons, or practicing with my worship band, New Horizons Worship.

I’m passionate about…

people and relationships. Plain and simple. I love people, and I love every possible opportunity to engage with, serve and develop long-term relationships with them.

My greatest blessing is…

my family. Without a doubt, my wife and my sons are the greatest blessings and gifts I could have ever asked for. I look forward to continuing to grow my family!

My personal motto is…

"Innovate the wheel." I'm constantly examining the "whys" of the world and looking for improvements. I'm thankful to be part of a team that encourages innovation and growth!

My hidden talent is…

music. I enjoy playing piano or drums and singing. I try to play or sing as often as I can.

My local community impact

I have lived in my community…

for 16 years. I came to Starkville, Mississippi, as a 17-year-old kid in 2008, and it quickly became my home.

What I like best about my community is…

the tight-knit environment. I love seeing someone I know every time I go to the coffee shop or the grocery store.

I’m a member of…

New Horizons Christian Fellowship, where I serve through worship ministry and children's ministry. I am an ambassador for the Greater Starkville Development Partnership, which serves to connect and promote businesses in the city of Starkville. I am also an active participant in our city's parks and recreational leagues.

My favorite volunteer activities are…

serving and working alongside my peers. I enjoy working alone, but it’s much more enjoyable to work with others.

It’s very important to me to support my community. My favorite Modern Woodmen programs are:

service projects recognizing and supporting the wonderful people in my community. Hometown Hero recognitions allow me to showcase our local unsung heroes and member activities bring my members together.

Recognizing our Hometown Heroes: Essential Workers

When you think back on the words that have become more and more prevalent during the COVID-19 pandemic, one stands out to me: essential. In March 2020, we were learning who was an who wasn't an essential worker, because that determined who needed to stay home and who needed to continue to work, either form their warehouse or school or place of business, or simply their home office. Today, we have a better understanding of who those essential workers are, and just how essential they are to us. At Modern Woodmen, we have made it a priority to recognize our essential workers, and most recently, we dedicated our Hometown Hero recognition to all essential workers instead of one person or family. I'm thankful to be a part of an organization that exists for the purpose of benefitting and recognizing those who benefit our communities. Thanks to all of our essential workers: you are all Hometown Heroes!
